What’s in My Makeup Bag?

-5Oh hi! Today we’re going to travel into the cesspool that is my makeup bag! Just kidding, it’s not that bad (but we still won’t be deep diving in there). I always find it fascinating what people carry with them in their bags, but even more so, their makeup bags! By the way, how cute is this watermelon bag from Target? I don’t think makeup bags should be kept for too long especially if you’re not anal retentive about it’s cleanliness. That’s why I picked this one which was only $5.99!

Okay, so let’s do this…dun dun DUN!

I tend not to use liquid eyeliner, and opt for pencils since I’m not necessarily as concerned with precision liner on a day-to-day basis. The smoothest pencil application comes from Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner. I carry both Blaquer and Brown(Out). I use the latter more frequently as it’s softer for the daytime, but I whip out the black for Amy Winehouse fantasy moments or if I’ve schedule a last minute date and want to make an extra statement like, “Hey, look at the feminine shape of my eyes! Even you can see it. Let’s get married! Please?”.

Dryness. The bane of my existence. I actually got this mini Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief as part of a Sephora rewards gift (I’m on that VIB Rouge level durr). I don’t use it too often, but a little facial mist stays in my bag for a pick-me-up and if the HVAC in my apartment or at the office is sucking the youthful essence from my face.

You all know I wash my hands more than Howard Hughes to try to prevent sickness. My hands take a beating and need major TLC and re-moisturization. Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream makes my favorite hand cream. It’s a bit pricey, but I’ve not found anything I like better. Non-greasy, fast absorbing, rich, full of antioxidants and smells lovely! Not overpowering at all for those of you who get headaches from strong scents.

Newer purchase alert! Love, love, love the Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Candy! It’s moisturizing, offers a buildable color (sheer to opaque), and contains SPF 15! Multi-functional products that look and feel beautiful should be in your makeup bag, witch! They also come in a variety of colors and clear, so you can pick what’s best for you.

I don’t go anywhere without my treasured Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC‑3. Thanks to this cream concealer compact that comes in two mixable shades, I’m better at hiding blemishes on my face than that nerd, Waldo.

New purchase alert! I am gaga over baby pink when it comes to lips! I’ve used Bite’s lip pencil before, but this is my first Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Souffle. Swoon! Great color for spring and summer, but make sure you bronze the hell out of your mug if you’re as fair as I am so you don’t look washed out like Rose from Titanic. Came to that realization today, oops!

As you can see, I’m about half way through this High Brow Highlight & Lift Pencil by Benefit Cosmetics. It stays in my bag, because there’s nothing like a nice “brow lift” to hide the fact that your fifth cup of coffee or third Hi-Ball of the day isn’t working for you anymore. The soft oyster pink cream highlight goes right under your brow. Blend with your ring finger (or a flat brush if you have that on hand). And now you look awake, zombie!

If you’re like me, you’ve peeled off your no chip as well as several layers of your already brittle thin, dying nails! Then, you bought some Sally Hansen nail rehab polish for your “severely damaged” fingees. And then, you picked that off half way and you need to go meet your boo, your judgmental mom, or a client. These babies come in handy! Not highly rated on CVS.com (do I even need to tell you to take that with a grain of salt?), but really useful if you’re in a pinch and don’t have time/funds to got to a salon. It also doesn’t exactly make sense to bring an entire bottle of nail polish in your purse, because you know your jostling on the train or natural clumsiness with somehow twist that cap off!. Now your entire makeup bag smells like acetone, great job!
