You’re on a Desert Island…Part I

I have many favorites in the beauty, skincare, and makeup department that I like to share on a regular basis, but I also really enjoy hearing about what other people prioritize. It’s like playing the desert island game, but only beauty related. What are the three things you couldn’t live without?

For me, it would start with a really good sunscreen. Not shocking. I think skin protection is so important and nothing dries, damages, or irritates like too much sun, especially if you’re prone to burning easily. My go-to is Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer® Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70 because it goes well under makeup and has almost a serum like consistency as opposed to clumpy, smelly sunscreen.

Secondly, I would probably bring an eyebrow pencil, because eyebrows totally frame your face and I look like a blank canvas without some darkening. I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Brow Stylist Sculptor in 360 Brunette. It’s simple, inexpensive, but matches my hair very well! It also comes with a wax tip for priming and a brush cap for shaping and final touches. 3-in-1, homeslice!

Finally, and this was a tough decision, but I would probably pick a lip balm because I hate dry, chapped, and cracked lips. Super uncomfortable. As far as what lip balm I would pick? Well, normally I’d pick something by Fresh that has maybe a tint or at least SPF 15 in it, but because I’m taking the sunscreen already, I might pick Aquaphor for it’s multi-use ability or Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I love rose scented anything and have been a longtime user of their balm for years now. The tube version is more hygienic in terms of application, but the tin is prettier packaging!

Now what would YOU pick?

NYX HD Photogenic Makeup Concealer Wand. Drug store price is $7, but works like it costs $70. I’m always carrying it! 100% Pure under eye cream. It’s coffee bean caffeine eye cream that reduces under eye circles, wakes you up, and smells great. I use every day. Peter Thomas Roth Lashes to Die For Turbo Nighttime Eyelash Treatment. It made my lashes beautiful and long after a week of daily use. You can find on Amazon for $40 or at Ulta, it’s usually almost $80.” – Jordan

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. It’s perfect for everyday. Benefit Precisely, My Brow Eyebrow Pencil is a perfect natural fill-in. Eminence Facial Recovery Oil. It’s deliciously hydrating! I use day and night; got from my facialist” – Danielle

“I don’t wear a ton of makeup in the summertime (if any at all), so summer incidentally becomes the time of the year when I really take care of my skin. My summer skincare staples include: sunscreen (Beautycounter’s Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30), facial oil (Beautycounter’s No. 3 Balancing + Ylang Ylang Facial Oil). I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THIS, year round!), and a really rich, but non greasy, facial moisturizer (Beautycounter’s Rejuvenating Day Cream), from their anti-aging line. I use Beautycounter products because they’re safer, but also because their products have done so much GOOD to my skin, without harmful chemicals, which is important to me.” – Emily

  1. Ooohhhh yes to a good brow!!!! Fun post!! I’ve always loved to hear about what others use, even though I have my own routine down now. (Only took me 15 years.)
