Fall is the greatest season in the year. While there are elements to enjoy about all the seasons, nothing gives me hygge (a Norwegian and Danish word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment) the way that fall does. So, in honor of it swiftly approaching, I thought I’d break down the hygge!
Cozy Fashion & Style
Where to begin! I will definitely do a separate fall fashion post soon, but between the blanket scarves, jeans, booties, sweaters, jackets, vests, beanies, leggings, etc., there’s nothing cozier (and my opinion, more fun) than dressing for fall weather. You can have fun with layers, pattern mixing, and accessorizing. Also, some of the best colors really pop in the fall; think navy, military/olive greens, aubergine, rust, mustard, burgundy, chestnut, cream, etc. Also, you can justify heavier makeup lewks, yipee!
Hot Tea and Coffee Drinks
Chai tea lattes, pumpkin spice lattes, hot delicious coffee – it all tastes so good again. You can cradle it with two hands if you feel chilly, like an Instagram influencer! You can sip on them while having a gorgeous date. You can bring a thermos along for all of your Saturday morning errands to Trader Joe’s and Walgreens.
Perfect Weather for Everything Good
Whether you’re taking a brisk walk, sleeping, tailgating, reading, going for a run, or snuggling up with your boo or doggie, fall weather is the perfect facilitator for all of these healthy, heat-warming activities. Fall is just gorgeous with the colorful leaves backdropped by clear blue skies full of crisp air. It’s the kind of weather that gets you motivated to be on top of your game! Am I right?
Apples are my favorite food and there’s nothing like a perfect honeycrisp in the peak season, perched in a cute little box at the farmer’s market. You can eat them raw, make (or buy) apple cider, apple sauce, apple pie; all the apple things. The taste of fall is sweet, plus, you can add alcohol to apples and it’s still delicious!
And a very honorable mention goes to….pumpkin! Pie (take a look below at the one I actually made), latte, bread, actual. These many forms of pumpkin is all good!
This is a classic that can be watched all year round, but optimal viewing is during the fall. An altogether creepy, fabulous Halloween romp starring the formidable Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and a baby Sarah Jessica Parker. Since the release of Hocus Pocus in 1993, the Sanderson Sisters have inspired many DIY Halloween costumes, memes, and noteworthy quotes:
I’m told a lot of Americans enjoy the game of football. I love watching for the joy of the game! Just kidding. My personal interest stems from the eye candy doing their thing, (think of the Jimmy Garoppolos of the world), and for an excuse to get together and eat chips and guac with friends and family for four hours straight.
Alright folks, too-da-loo!
