Recently, I’ve been doing some new activities for me, relating to physical health. On Sunday of last week, I did a hot yoga class with my friend Kylie, which prompted me to sign up for more via ClassPass given my two week free trial. The next day, I did a competitive cycling class (which I won) over at Full Psycle. I even got a shoutout from the instructor for working hard, which made me too happy and brought me back to soccer and basketball practice as a kid when praise from the coach was everything. It was challenging, but I felt great after and walked home with a little high.
Tuesday, I was pooped and just took it easy, but on Wednesday, I went to the same yoga studio as Sunday, except this time, their Lincoln Park branch, which is quite close to me. and another hot yoga class. This class was 90 minutes and I believe is what would be considered an official Bikram class, though I’m not 100% positive. It’s a sequence of 26 poses, repeated twice, in 105 degrees Fahrenheit as well as some breathing exercises. It was intense on many levels! Pouring sweat, deep stretches, long holds. I was quite literally a puddle afterwards. I went with the intention of alleviating what had been a rather stressful day at work, and it was successful! When I got home, I barely finished dinner before passing out.
In addition to these workouts, I have been “exercising” my face as well, whenever I can. I purchased a mini NuFace, which is essentially a micro-current facial toning tool. With the exception of my first usage, I did this horizontally in bed because it’s better than nothing. And if you’re wondering, I do notice a difference from it, though it does require regular usage (5+ times per week). I’m already almost out of the gel primer you need to reapply to conduct the micro-current, and have instead ordered some organic aloe vera gel instead. That way, you don’t have to rinse it off like the primer and it will be less expensive.
Basically, it’s been fun and beneficial mix up my fitness and skincare routine. That way, I’m more interested and inclined to keep moving and taking care of my body.
Sayonara! Have a great weekend!
